About

In early 2014 I discovered some of the StackExchange communities. Specifically I started answering questions on AskUbuntu and Electrical Engineering. Later I signed up for more sites of that network. This activity gave me ideas for subjects I could write about. There were subjects I couldn’t cover entirely in a single answer or subjects that would become off-topic for their format.

So, I wanted my own site where I could write about everything I wanted. On July 17, 2014, I created One Transistor on Blogger. I wanted to write mostly about electronics projects, but ended up writing more posts about Linux software and tutorials than posts about electronics.

At the beginning I played with Blogger themes, but I didn’t like them. For a while, One Transistor used a theme called Ajaxify. Then Google announced that non mobile friendly sites will appear lower on search results. And my theme wasn’t mobile friendly.

In 2015 I had to switch to a mobile friendly theme. I chose TechLive. For a while I used it as it was with the orange color. Later in 2015, I changed main color of the theme to the blue tint that’s still in use today (#3172f4). As time passed, minor changes were made to the original TechLive theme.

In the autumn of 2016, I designed my own responsive theme using Bootstrap. I wanted a clean and simple design. I tried to remove as much of external scripts as I could. I also redesigned the logo in Inkscape. Today I'm still using a slightly modified version of that theme, with a modified logo.

In October 2017 I decided it’s time for a change, so I registered onetransistor.eu. However, One Transistor remained at onetransistor.blogspot.com until March 25, 2018.

For a long time I wanted to translate some of my posts in Romanian, so I also started ro.onetransistor.eu, a Romanian version of One Transistor, where I will translate some of the English posts and publish posts that are specific to Romanian readers.

Further on, I plan writing mostly about electronics circuits and projects, microcontrollers and Arduino, development boards and IoT. I will no longer write about software and tutorials, unless related to electronics. I won’t write about Linux either, unless there is something worth sharing, hard to find anywhere else. I may still write about software that’s related to technical stuff, electronics or anything else related to this site’s subjects.

I hope you found what you were looking for by visiting One Transistor. If you didn’t understand something, ask for clarification in a comment. I’m not a native English speaker and I may fail to make myself understood. If there’s something important you want to discuss, visit Contact page.

If you were wondering what software I use for One Transistor: KiCad and TinyCAD for schematic capture and PCB design; LibreOffice Draw and Inkscape for technical drawings; image editing is performed using GIMP.

Best regards,
Cornelius, author of One Transistor
